KMV CELEBRATES 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI BY ORGANIZING EXHIBITION IN COLLABORATION WITH MINISTRY OF INFORMATION & BROADCASTING, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Ranked No.1 in India by India Today Ranking has taken the initiative of organizing 3-day exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi in collaboration with Field Out Reach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India from October 1 to October 3,2019. Throwing more light on the program, Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the inauguration of the exhibition witnessed the presence of Mr Diprava Lakra, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar and Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar. The Gandhian Studies Centre of KMV had decorated the whole ambience and had also showcased tableaus with women spinning charkha, women working at looms et al. Tributes were also paid to the great Mahatma by chanting of hymns including Vaishnava Jana. A play which was performed by KMVites to mark the 100th Anniversary of Champaran Movement was also shown on the screen to inspire the students from various institutions. A corner displaying the colossal work being performed by KMV’s Gandhian Studies Centre was also set up. Deputy Commissioner Varinder K. Sharma appreciated the efforts put up by KMV and averred that Gandhi was an institution in himself and he also paved the way for the freedom of our country by adopting the method of non-violence. He said that the teachings of Gandhi are still relevant today & he also stressed on following the Gandhian principles enshrined in our Constitution. It is a matter of great pride for KMV as KMV have empowered 4000 women from the underprivileged strata ever since the inception of Women Empowerment Cell. College has also adopted villages and schools under Gandhian Studies Centre. Empathy Corner created outside the college offers free of cost items like clothes etc. to the needy people. All the activities performed by the Gandhian Studies Centre were also displayed in this corner. The exhibition which will continue till 3rd October, 2019 will be a great source of inspiration for the youth. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated Dr Monica Sharma, Director, Gandhian Studies Centre, Dr Madhumeet, Dr Gurjot, Mrs Harpreet and Mr Ravi for organizing the exhibition in a flawless manner.
