KMV Organizes a One Day Seminar on Guru Nanak Dev ji in Collaboration With Punjab Kala Parishad, Chandigrah

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar in collaboration with Punjab Kala Parishad, Chandigarh organized a one day seminar on Guru Nanak Bani: Mool Sarokaar Te Prasangikta to commemorate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji. The seminar was chaired by Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. Dr Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor, Central University, Himachal Pradesh was the chief guest for the occasion. Dr Harbhajan Singh, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Dr Gurmit Singh, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar were the speakers on the occasion. While addressing the gathering, Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the positive approach towards women found in the bani of Guru Nanak Dev ji inspired the founders of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya to establish this pioneer women empowerment institution. She emphasized on the fact in order to pay a true tribute to Guru Nanak Dev ji, one should follow the ideals and teachings of Guru ji and they should try to implement those ideals in their practical life. She emphasized on the fact that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji should not be kept limited to one place, but its message should be spread in the whole world. Dr Lakhvinder Johal, General Secretary, Punjab Kala Parishad in his inaugural address said that the young generation really need to understand the concepts of Guru Nanak’s Bani in order to make their life constructive. Dr Harmohinder Singh Bedi in his address explained that today the message of Guru Nanak Dev ji is being spread all over the world and there are various efforts done at the global level to understand the meaning of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s bani. He also shared with the students that how Guru Nanak Dev ji brought a social change in the society through dialogues done during his travels. Dr Harbhajan Singh addressed the gathering by saying that the message of Guru Nanak Dev ji is not only limited to only one religion, caste, creed, community etc. but it is applicable for the whole universe. He acquainted everyone with the universal aspect of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s bani and also explained that Guru ji treated the whole universe as one whole family in his teachings. Dr Gurmit Singh in his address discussed the teachings of Guru ji and also told everyone to implement the ideals and teachings of Guru ji in their practical life. He explained that Guru ji was a great social reformer and philosopher who gave a message that the humans should live with moral values in their lives. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of PG Department of Punjabi for organizing the seminar.
