KMV organises an educational-cum-excursion trip to Palampur for the students

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised an educational-cum-excursion trip to Palampur for the students. The trip was organised by the Department of Biotechnology & Post Graduate Department of Botany. During this visit, students visited CSIR- Institute of Himalayan Bio resources and Technology, Palampur& also met Mr. Sahil and Dr. Vandana Jaiswal, Scientist, Molecular Fingerprinting and QTL Mapping. Students visited the Bamboo House, where they got information about various food items from rose, lavender etc. to oil, tea-wine, herbal and black tea. Along with this, during the visit to the Remote Sensing Lab, the students also got informed about solving the problems of the backward areas with the help of satellites and drones. By going to herbariums where the students learned about poly house cultivation of asafoetida, rose, saffron etc& at the same time, they also acquired information about epigenetic describing the characteristics of the plant. Apart from this, in the biology lab, after learning about the environmental effects in the growth of any plant, students also understood the working system of the tissue culture lab. On the second day of the visit, the students collected various plant species from different places of Palampur and interacted with the local residents about the trees and plants according to the seasonal cycle in the region. Apart from this, on the same day, the students also learned about the different species of animals and their living conditions during the visit to Dhauladhar Zoo&Nature Park. This educational tour, which was extremely exciting for the students, provided them with an opportunity to see the concepts of various subjects in the books being realised in practical form. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that such activities help the students to acquire important information with interest and also return to their classroom with full enthusiasm after an energetic break.Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Sandeep Kaur, Mrs Navgeet Kaur, Dr Sandeep Singh, Ms Princy and Ms Latika Khosla for successfully organising the trip.
