Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous)is a pioneer institution to make value based courses a mandatory part of its curriculum. Under autonomy, KMV has introduced compulsory value added courses for all the students at undergraduate level. Under the value added programme-Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creative Thinking for all the students of semester V, KMV organised sessions on ‘Introduction to Entrepreneurship’ and ‘Creativity & Innovation’in order to inculcate spirit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship among the students. The purpose of these sessionswere to acquaint the students with the basics of Innovation & Entrepreneurship as well as problem solving & creative thinking. The erudite speaker of the day was Major General (Dr.) G.G. Dwivedi (SM, VSM & BAR). During the sessions, Dr. G.G. Dwivedi explained the entrepreneurial process regarding identification and evaluation of opportunity, development of business plan, determination of required resources and management of resulting enterprise.Dr. Dwivedi also elaborated that creativity drives innovation and progress and also encouraged the students to become a creative problem solver in order to find new solutions rather than simply identifying and implementing the norms. He also emphasised on negotiation skills as a critical factor for becoming an entrepreneur. Two students-Shubneet Kaur and Shruti Kalia also presented their case studies during the sessions. Dr. Dwivedi appreciated the innovative ideas of these students and motivated all the students to become innovative and creative. The sessions were quite interactive and proved to be useful for the students as many inquisitive students also asked their queries from Dr. Dwivedi.Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended her heartfelt gratitude to Major General (Dr.) G.G. Dwivedi for hissagacious address and alsomotivated the students to become job givers rather than job seekers and to take initiative to start their own small ventures. She averred that innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives at KMV will improve the key competence ofentrepreneurship and will lead tomore innovative behaviour among students and faculty.
