KMV Organizes World Vision 2050 through Science- A DBT Sponsored Exhibition More than 700 Students from 35 Colleges & Schools Participated

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment, Ranked No.1 College  in India by India Today Ranking (Various Categories) organized a One Day Exhibition sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India titled World Vision 2050 through Science. Dr Kamaljit Singh, Head, Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak  Dev University, Amritsar was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Dr Partap Kumar Patti, Head, Department of Biotechnology, Guru Nanak  Dev University, Amritsar, Dr Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee & Dr Satpal Gupta, Member, KMV Managing Committee were the guest of honour during the exhibition. The event  witnessed the participation from more than 35 schools and colleges and the total number of participants were more than 700. There were two levels for these competitions. Level 1 included participants from 9th to 12th class and Level 2 participants included participants from undergraduate science students. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the esteemed guests & averred that the present exhibition will act as a platform for the students to discuss current issues and insights for the future world. Dr. Dwivedi added that by a vision of 2050, students are able to think what needs to be done to improve the world of future. Education too needs to focus on these futuristic issues. She further maintained that KMV is one of 30 colleges in India to be granted the prestigious status of Star College by Government of India. KMV has striven ceaselessly to expand landscapes of learning by providing a great platform for creativity, innovation, research through the Star College status of the college. During the exhibition, various competitions & events were organized for the students namely Visualize 2050 through still and working models, Flora Expo- Plant variety show with ornamental and medicinal plants, Kaun Banega Scientist- Screening and Stage show of General Science Quiz, Wings to imagination through canvas- Pre-prepared poster of size 28*22 inches, Enviro Selfie contest- One 8*12 inches photograph per entry depicting environmental contribution & DANscience (Choreography).

Dr Kamaljit Singh addressing the students lauded their creative & innovative ideas. He stressed on the fact that KMV is  excelling in imparting the science education to the students & the college has always taken a great lead in organizing various science related innovative activities for the students awareness. The students will stand to gain a lot from this event as it will encourage the students to innovatively think about future & be able to suggest solutions through innovative ideas and concepts. It is pertinent to mention that there was no registration fee for the students to participate in these various competitions and moreover, cash prizes worth Rs 5000, 3000, 2000 & many more were also awarded to the students for their brilliant performances along with trophies to all participating schools & colleges. The college is striving ceaselessly to maintain its standards of excellence by fostering an environment of endless opportunities and promoting culture of life-long learning.
