Industrial Visit (Nakodar Durrie Industry) April 28, 2026

An industrial visit to the Durrie Weaving Industry at Nakodar was organized on 28 April 2026 for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Fashion Designing and PG Diploma (Semester 2) by the P.G. Department of Fashion Designing, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, under the supervision of Dr. Simerjeet Kaur. The purpose of the visit was to provide practical exposure to traditional handloom weaving processes. During the visit, students observed various stages including yarn preparation, dyeing, loom setting, weaving techniques, and finishing processes. They also gained insight into the use of traditional machinery along with modern techniques. The visit was highly informative and helped students understand real industry practices and appreciate the importance of the handloom sector.
