KMVites Discuss Innovative Ideas for a Better Society
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment with Top National and State Rankings by India Today Survey of Best Colleges 2020 (various categories) & Outlook Magazine organised an online workshop on electronic circuit designing and innovative practices. The workshop was organised by PG Department of Physics. Er. Vishal Sharma, Scientist cum Chief Mentor of Innovation Hub, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala was the resource person for this workshop. The workshop was attended by more than 150 participants including students and faculty members. Er Vishal Sharma commenced the workshop by explaining the concept of alternative current, direct current, voltage, resistance and electromotive forces. Further, he made students understand the much known Ohm’s law& then basic electronic components like LEDs, diode, LDR etc. were introduced. Importance of series and parallel connections in electronic circuits used in our home, schools and college were also explained. He added in India all appliances work on the standard voltage of 220 V and all devices are connected in parallel to reduce the chances of circuit break. Students also participated in the event by answering an open quiz by Er. Vishal Sharma. Tinker cad app was also introduced in the workshop to create 3D electronic designs. Students created their own circuits live in the workshop. Various unique project ideas were also discussed with students like Automatic hand sanitisers, Line testers, LDR based circuits etc. He added that for innovations, mind should be kept very aware and necessities are to be identified but cost effectiveness is also a very important parameter that has to be considered for innovations. It is pertinent to mention that the students of KMV will soon start their innovative projects in collaboration with Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala. Students were also motivated to share some innovative ideas and Er. Vishal Sharma assured to attain patents for the same. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the workshop was very much informative as well interesting and will motivate the students for undertaking innovative projects in the field of science and will also enhance their research aptitude. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of P.G. Department of Physics for holding such workshop.
