Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has today evolved into the First & Only Autonomous Women College of Punjab with the coveted status of ‘The Heritage College’. Dedicated to the cause of enlightenment and women empowerment across three centuries, its foundation stone was laid by Lala Devraj ji in 1886. As a cradle of women empowerment through higher education, KMV is an institution par excellence. Krishna Hall, one of the oldest structures on the pristine premises, is redolent with the soil of “Haldi Ghati” in its foundation. As a repository of Vidyalaya’s illustrious past, the hall continues to inculcate a spirit of patriotism in girl- students on the campus. With its walls adorned with the archived photographic memories of the visits of five Presidents and five Prime Ministers of India to this premier institution, the hall bears a testimony to the institution’s glorious heritage. The photographs of the present President of KMV Managing Committee and the former presidents along with those of other eminent personalities of the country add grace and glory to the elevating ambience of this place.
One corner of Krishna Hall is dedicated to the alumni of the college, the most prominent among them is Smt. Satyawati Devi, mother of Former Vice President of India. The photo of this first graduate alumna of this iconic institution instills a sense of pride. Preserved with pride are the images of Smt. Nirmal Milkha Singh, Smt. Ambika Soni and Smt. Surinder Kaur Badal and many more luminous personalities on the left side of the entrance of this hall. The mural on front wall recreates trail blazing history of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya. The hall also serves as a common room for our scholars. The college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi has added stature to the hall with the title “Hall of Fame.”
