KMVites explore the world of Newspaper Production during an educational visit at The Tribune, Chandigarh

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) students from the PG Department of Journalism & Mass Communication embarked on a unique learning journey as they visited The Tribune Head Office in Chandigarh. This educational excursion provided the aspiring journalists with an exclusive opportunity to witness firsthand the intricacies of newspaper production. During the visit, the students were warmly welcomed by The Tribune’s editorial team, who guided them through the various departments involved in the creation of a newspaper. The interactive session included insights into newsroom operations, editorial decision-making processes, and the integration of modern technologies in journalism. The highlight of the visit was the in-depth exploration of newspaper printing techniques. The students were taken behind the scenes to witness the sophisticated machinery and meticulous processes involved in bringing news to print. From the initial stages of typesetting to the final phase of printing and distribution, the students gained a comprehensive understanding of the entire newspaper production cycle. The Tribune editorial team also engaged in a question and answer session, offering advice and sharing anecdotes from their experiences in the field. The visit concluded with the students expressing their gratitude for the hospitality extended by The Tribune team and their eagerness to apply the knowledge gained in their future endeavours. Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV continues to foster such industry interactions, aiming to equip its students with practical insights and experiences that go beyond the confines of the classroom. Mr Sehajpal Singh, Head, PG Department of JMC & Ms Malika Sharma accompanied the students on this visit.
