Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous)continues to excel in providing experiential learning opportunities. KMV under autonomy has continuously upgraded and revised its syllabi and industrial training and its know how are an integral part of KMV’s curriculum including professional training and internships. Under a new development, a group of MBA, MCA, Commerce and Physics students visited Gold Plus Float Glass Industry, Roorkee, for a two-day educational and industrial exposure tour. The entire trip was fully sponsored by the industry including the stay of the participants which is a fallout of KMV’s collaboration with All India Glass industry. The visit was a significant learning experience, where students witnessed the entire process of glass manufacturing, right from the raw materials processing in furnaces  to the final packaging of the product. They observed how float glass and frosted glass are produced with precision and advanced technology. This enriching exposure beautifully bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry practices, helping students connect their theoretical knowledge with practical implementation. The visit proved valuable both for Physics students, who studied the material science and optical properties of glass and MBA students, who explored the management, logistics and marketing aspects of a large-scale industrial operation. The group was warmly received by Ms. Sheetal Khanna, General Manager – Marketing who graciously explained various applications of different types of glasses in construction, automotive and energy-efficient technologies. The students also gained a deep understanding of the production and applications of tempered glass, laminated glass and insulating glass units (IGUs) — all of which are crucial in modern architectural and industrial applications. Her insightful talk inspired the students and deepened their appreciation of the glass industry’s technological innovation. Through such initiatives, KMV continues to uphold its legacy of academic excellence, innovation and holistic student development, preparing young women to lead confidently in science, technology and business.
