The Department of History organized one day educational trip to historical places near Ludhiana. The areas which were visited by students included Maharaja Ranjit Singh Fort at Phillaur, Gurdwara Shri Manji Sahib Ji and Mogul Sarai near Doraha. The students also visited Eastwood village on their way back to Jalandhar.
Fifty one Students along with teachers enjoyed the one day trip and saw the intricacies of the art and architecture during the times of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Ranjit Singh Fort. The students saw the museum, the library and the detailing of the Fort via a PPT presentation made by, the officials of police Academy Phillaur.
The students also visited Gurudwara Manji Sahib situated in the village Alamgir constructed during the sixth Guru Shri Hargobind Ji. Students took tour of Sarai Doraha which was built as Mughal caravan Sarais for supporting Mughal caravans, by the Mughal emperor Jahangir during his reign 1605-1627. On their way back to Jalandhar they saw the East wood village. The visit aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Fort and Sarai’s rich history and cultural significance. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the department for organizing trip to the areas which are part of students syllabus. She stated by providing such experiences through field trips, the learning becomes engaging, memorable and relevant. They develop sense of curiosity and wonder.
