KanyaMahaVidyalaya (Autonomous) organized a two-day educational trip to McLeodganjDharamshala and KangraHimachal Pradesh. The visit was a joint venture of the Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Psychology aimed at providing experiential learning beyond classroom teaching. Students from different academic streams participated in the educational excursion. The students were accompanied by Dr. Iqbal Singh and Dr. Ekta Saini, who guided them throughout the visit and helped them understand the historical, political, philosophical, and cultural importance of the region. One of the major highlights of the trip was the visit to the Dalai Lama Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism and residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The temple provided students an opportunity to observe Buddhist traditions, meditation practices, and the peaceful philosophy of compassion and non-violence, which holds great relevance for political ethics and global peace studies. The group also explored Bhagsunag Temple and the nearby Bhagsunag Waterfall, sites known for their religious and ecological significance. These locations helped students understand the interrelationship between spirituality, environment, and human psychology.Another important destination was Kangra Fort, one of India’s oldest historical forts. The visit enabled students to learn about ancient Indian political systems, regional kingdoms, and the strategic importance of forts in medieval governance and defense. The exploration of various Buddhist monasteries further enriched students’ knowledge about Tibetan culture, exile politics, and intercultural coexistence. Prof. (Dr.) AtimaSharma Dwivedi, emphasised, “Educational visits like this are essential for translating NEP’s vision of practical and holistic education into reality. Through direct engagement with destinations over these days, our students not only gain industry-ready skills but also develop a deeper appreciation of India’s rich cultural and natural heritage.”
