Poster Making Competition on Martyr Day of Gandhiji Back

Activity Date

January 31, 2026

In solemn remembrance of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the P.G. Department of Fine Arts organized a Poster Making Competition on January 31, 2026. The event served as a creative tribute to the “Father of the Nation” and all the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence.

Event Highlights

* Theme: The competition focused on themes of “Non-Violence (Ahimsa),” “Gandhian Philosophy in the 21st Century,” and “Tribute to the Martyrs.”

* Artistic Vision: Students utilized minimalist designs, charcoal sketches, and symbolic imagery—such as the Charkha, the Three Monkeys, and the Khadi fabric—to convey powerful messages of peace and truth.

* Participation: The event saw a large turnout from the Fine Arts department, with participants demonstrating deep emotional and intellectual engagement with the subject matter.

Key Objectives

  1. To reflect on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi through visual storytelling.
  2. To instill a sense of gratitude and national responsibility in the younger generation.
  3. To promote the use of art as a medium for social change and historical reflection.

Evaluation and Recognition

The posters were appraised by departmental experts based on:

* Symbolic Depth: The ability to convey complex Gandhian ideals through simple visuals.

* Originality: Fresh perspectives on the concept of martyrdom and peace.

* Visual Impact: The overall aesthetic and emotional resonance of the artwork.

Conclusion

The competition concluded with a two-minute silence observed in memory of the martyrs. The Head of the Department addressed the gathering, emphasizing that the true tribute to Gandhiji lies in practicing his values of truth and compassion. The winning entries were displayed in the department gallery to inspire the student body.
