Umang Back

Activity Date

February 11, 2026

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya recently hosted its highly anticipated annual exhibition-cum-sale, “Umang.” The event serves as a vibrant platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial skills, creativity, and craftsmanship. Designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world commercial experience, Umang transformed the campus into a bustling marketplace of innovation and art.

The Fine Arts Pavilion: A Creative Hub

A major highlight of the fete was the stall installed by the P.G. Department of Fine Arts. The stall was a testament to the department’s dedication to aesthetic excellence and practical skill development.

The display was broadly categorized into two segments:

* Original Paintings: * A diverse range of artworks including oil paintings, watercolours, and mixed media.

* Themes varied from traditional Indian landscapes and spiritual motifs to contemporary abstract art.

* Each piece highlighted the technical proficiency and unique voice of the student artists.

* Handcrafted Material.

* Home Decor: Hand-painted vases, decorative wall hangings, and intricately designed mirrors.

* Utility Art: Hand-painted tote bags, customized stationery, and recycled art pieces.

* Festive Crafts: Specialized craft items tailored for seasonal celebrations, showcasing meticulous detail.

Objectives and Impact

The participation of the P.G. Department of Fine Arts in “Umang” served several key purposes:

  1. Entrepreneurial Exposure: Students learned the nuances of pricing their work, interacting with potential buyers, and managing a commercial stall.
  2. Skill Validation: Seeing their creations appreciated and purchased by visitors provided a significant boost to the students’ professional confidence.
  3. Financial Literacy: The “Earn While You Learn” model was in full effect, allowing students to understand the economic value of artistic labor.

Conclusion

The “Umang” fete once again proved to be a resounding success. Through the P.G. Department of Fine Arts’ stall, KMV successfully demonstrated its commitment to fostering not just artists, but “Art-preneurs.” The event concluded with high spirits, leaving the participants motivated to further refine their crafts for future endeavors.
