KMV Jalandhar NCC Cadets Empowered Through Civil Defence Capacity Building Training; Win First Prize. The Punjab Home Guards and Civil Defence, Jalandhar (Government of India), successfully organized a 10-day Civil Defence Capacity Building Training Programme aimed at strengthening community safety and emergency preparedness. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, including NCC cadets of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (KMV), Jalandhar, who actively engaged in acquiring vital life-saving and disaster-management skills. The comprehensive training encompassed essential modules such as Introduction to Civil Defence, Fire Fighting and First Aid, Rope Knots and Lashing, CPR & FBAO, Disaster Management, Emergency and Flood Rescue, and Rope-Based Rescue Techniques. Through hands-on drills and simulated emergency situations, the cadets gained valuable practical experience in handling real-life crisis scenarios with confidence and efficiency. The programme was conducted by experienced Civil Defence professionals who shared in-depth insights into coordinated emergency response and emphasized the crucial role of trained citizens during disasters. Special emphasis was laid on teamwork, leadership, quick decision-making, and community coordination, which are critical during emergencies. Director, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, appreciated the initiative and emphasized that such capacity-building programmes are vital for holistic education as they instill discipline, social responsibility, and preparedness among students. She also lauded Lt. Sufalica Kalia, Associate NCC Officer, for her dedicated efforts in providing diverse training opportunities and activities that empower girl cadets to emerge as confident future leaders of the nation. The NCC cadets of KMV showcased outstanding performance throughout the training programme. Cadet Tammana Choudhary secured First Prize, bringing laurels to the institution. In recognition of her exemplary contribution, leadership, and sustained commitment to NCC activities, Lt. Sufalica Kalia was honoured as the Guest of Honour, and honour presented by the Punjab Home Guards and Civil Defence, Jalandhar. Participants expressed immense satisfaction with the training, stating that it significantly enhanced their confidence and equipped them with practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies. The successful completion of the programme reflects the strong commitment of KMV Jalandhar and the Punjab Home Guards & Civil Defence Department towards building a safer, resilient, and well-prepared society.
