The PG Department of Zoology, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized an essay writing competition on the occasion of World Wetlands Day on February 2, 2026, at 10:30 AM in the Zoology Laboratory. The theme of the competition, “Eco-Innovation Day: Youth for Wetland Sustainability,” highlighted the crucial role of young minds in promoting innovative solutions for wetland conservation and sustainable management.The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students who expressed their ideas on ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and community engagement. Participants emphasized the importance of wetlands in maintaining ecological balance and suggested creative, technology-driven approaches for their protection.

The competition aimed to foster environmental awareness, critical thinking, and scientific temper among students. Faculty members evaluated the essays based on originality, relevance, and clarity of expression. The program successfully inspired students to contribute actively toward wetland sustainability and environmental stewardship.
