Event Date

April 12, 2026

KanyaMahaVidyalaya (Autonomous) Department of Hospitality and Tourism successfully organized a 3-day practical educational field visit for the students of Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) – Airlines and Airport Management to key attractions in Dharamshala, McLeodgunj, and Kangra regions of Himachal Pradesh. As part of their academic curriculum, the students visited the following prominent sites during the three-day visit:

  • Norbulingka Monastery (Norbulingka Institute)
  • HPCA Stadium
  • Tea Gardens, Dharamshala
  • McLeodgunj Market
  • Bhagsunag Temple
  • Bhagsunag Waterfall
  • Kangra Fort and Museum

The field visit provided students with direct, hands-on exposure to diverse aspects of the tourism and hospitality industry. Students interacted directly with local stakeholders including monastery officials, stadium management personnel, tea garden representatives, market vendors, temple authorities, and heritage site guides. These interactions offered valuable insights into cultural and heritage tourism, sports tourism, agri-tourism, destination management, visitor flow handling, sustainable practices, and operational challenges in Himalayan tourist destinations.Following the visit, students will prepare and submit detailed research reports based on their observations, stakeholder interactions, and findings. The reports will be evaluated by faculty members, with emphasis on data collection, analysis of tourism operations, practical insights, and recommendations for the sector. This initiative reflects KMV’s commitment of implementing the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and practical learning as per the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Director, KanyaMahaVidyalaya, emphasized, “Field visits like this are essential for translating NEP’s vision of practical and holistic education into reality. Through direct engagement with destinations and stakeholders over these three days, our students not only gain industry-ready skills but also develop a deeper appreciation of India’s rich cultural and natural heritage.” She lauded the efforts of Dr. Sunil, Head, Department of Hospitality & Tourism for successfully organising the visit and ensuring rich learning outcomes.
