Copyrights granted for Low-Cost Sustainable Waste Solutions

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) is proud to announce that Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi has been granted two copyrights by the Copyright Office, Government of India for the innovative designs that promote sustainable waste management. The copyrights were awarded under the research project granted by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India to Dr. Pardeep Arora (PI) and Dr. Harpreet Kaur (Co-PI), the faculty of KMV on the topic Developing Low Cost Teaching Aids in Promoting Sustainable Waste Management: Swachh Bharat Paradigms sanctioned for a total amount of Rs. 19,90,000.It is pertinent to mention that Prof. Dwivedi has also been previously granted a copyright for the Foundation Programme innovated for the new entrants and for the book ‘The Human Story’ which carries articles on the various modules presented during the Foundation Program. The two copyrighted designs are a testament to the college’s commitment to sustainability and creative education. The first copyrighted work is a “Sustainable Upcycled key chain made with e-waste, broken jewellery, beads, and springs.” This artistic creation highlights the potential of repurposing discarded materials into useful and aesthetically pleasing objects. The second design, an “Up cycled plastic scrap fused envelope with repurposed earring decoration,” offers another creative solution for reducing plastic waste and giving new life to old accessories. Prof. Dwivedi was joined in this achievement by a talented team of researchers: Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Pardeep Arora and Ms. Harleen Kaur. Their collaborative efforts underscore the interdisciplinary approach of the project, which aims to develop low-cost teaching aids while championing the principles of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.Speaking about the achievement, Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi stated, “This recognition from the Government of India is a significant milestone for our institution and a great encouragement for our research team. These copyrights validate our efforts to blend creativity with sustainability, demonstrating that waste can be a valuable resource. We are committed to continuing our work in developing innovative and environmentally conscious solutions that can benefit society and inspire future generations.”The research project focuses on creating practical and affordable teaching aids from waste materials, aligning with a broader mission to promote environmental awareness and responsible resource management. The copyrights are a testament to the project’s success in producing tangible, impactful outcomes.
