Faculty Introduction

The Department of Chemistry offers comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed to build strong conceptual foundations and practical skills. The department actively collaborates with allied disciplines such as Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Food Science, and Home Science, fostering an interdisciplinary learning environment.

The department has received funding and recognition under prestigious schemes including CPE, CURIE, DBT Star College Status, and has been identified by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under FIST-I and FIST-II programmes.

Since the academic session 2018–2019, the department has been offering M.Sc. Chemistry programme under a continuous evaluation system. Students gain hands-on experience in modern, state-of-the-art laboratories, enabling them to strengthen their chosen specialization and prepare for careers in research, industry, and academia. The programme also supports pathways for higher education and international exposure.

The curriculum is regularly updated to align with global trends in education and research, ensuring students remain competitive and future-ready.

Infrastructure

The department has good instrumental facilities such as Double beam UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Single Beam UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Rotavapor, Temperature controlled Magnetic Stirrer,Turbidity Meter, pH  meter, Colorimeter, TDS Meter, Refractrometer, Overhead Stirrer , Polarimeter  and good computer facilities for carrying out advanced research. The library of the Chemistry department is well equipped with latest books, journals and research papers. The department is well-known for its research activities and has very well equipped research laboratory.
