11th Academic Council meeting highlights New Milestones, Technical Campus Establishment and NEP-Aligned Reforms
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous)held its 11th Academic Council meeting under the chairpersonship of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. The meeting brought together an esteemed panel of academic experts and institutional leaders, including Dr. Umesh Kumar, Scientist G, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi; Dr. Nikhil Kumar, Deputy Secretary, University Grants Commission, New Delhi; Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Professor, School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Dr. Vasudha Sambyal, Professor, Department of Human Genetics, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Professor, Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar; Dr. Deepa Sikand Kauts, Professor, Department of Education, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr. Renu Bharadwaj, Professor, Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar and Deans and Heads of Departments from KMV. In her address, Prof. (Dr.) Dwivedi highlighted KMV’s continuous progress in academic innovation and excellence, particularly its effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which is shaping a globally benchmarked, research-driven, and innovation-oriented academic environment. With a history of over a century, KMV has long been recognised as a pioneer in women’s education and a torchbearer of academic empowerment in North India. The Academic Council members wholeheartedly commended KMV’s dynamic academic growth under autonomous status. They extended their warm congratulations to Dr. Dwivedi on the successful establishment of the KMV Technical Campus, recognising it as a landmark achievement in the institution’s expansion and vision. Members also appreciated KMV’s extensive academic offerings, which include 24 undergraduate, 26 postgraduate, 2 undergraduate diploma, 3 postgraduate diploma programs and 22 certificate courses. The launch of two in-demand programs—Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA)—was widely praised, along with the introduction of NCC as an elective course for BA/B.Sc. Students and the commencement of M.Sc. (Physics) with Artificial Intelligence. The house suggested starting the Certificate course in film and theatre studies and Paramedical Sciences. In her concluding remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Dwivedi expressed her sincere gratitude to all Academic Council members for their unwavering support, commitment and contribution toward steering KMV’s academic excellence and national leadership in higher education.
