Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Department of Bio-Technology organised a session on “Navigating the Path to Mental Health and Wellness”. The resource person for the session was Ms. Sonu Agarwal, Managing Director, Zen Tree, Punjab, who is a well-known speaker, mental wellness coach, and advocate for holistic health. Ms. Agarwal delivered an inspiring talk focused on understanding the complexities of mental health, recognizing early signs of stress and anxiety, and adopting lifestyle practices to maintain emotional balance. She emphasized that mental wellness is not merely the absence of illness but a continuous process of self-awareness, self-care, and personal growth. During her lecture, Ms. Agarwal explained how modern-day challenges—such as academic competition, digital overload, and social expectations—can impact mental well-being. She encouraged students to prioritize self-care, build strong social connections, and practice mindfulness and gratitude as tools for emotional healing. The session also included short relaxation techniques and breathing exercises, allowing students to experience instant calm and focus. Furthermore, Ms. Agarwal discussed the importance of breaking the stigma around mental health issues and encouraged open dialogue on emotional struggles. The interactive session saw active participation from students, who asked thoughtful questions and shared their own perspectives on managing stress during examinations and research work. The discussion also touched upon the growing career opportunities in mental health and wellness sectors, such as counselling, life coaching, psychology, and corporate wellness programs — helping students see mental health not only as a personal priority but also as a potential professional path. Principal Prof Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that such sessions are crucial in today’s time to equip students with emotional intelligence and coping strategies that contribute to their overall development. She further maintained that the session was truly enlightening, promoting awareness, , and proactive attitudes toward mental health and wellness. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Sandeep Saggu, Head, Department of Biotechnology for successfully organising the event.
