The PG Department of Computer Science & Applications of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), Jalandhar, continues to take pioneering steps towards skill enhancement and employability development. In line with the New Education Policy of India, the department has introduced new-age, industry-relevant add-on certificate courses designed to provide students with practical expertise alongside their regular degree programmes.
Two flagship skill-based courses — Data Analytics with Power BI & Tableau and Creative Design — have received overwhelming appreciation from students. These programmes are skill-based, aligned with the Sector Skill Council, NSDC (Govt. of India), and carry international certification validity.
The Data Analytics with Power BI & Tableau course equips students with hands-on skills in data visualization, dashboard creation, and business intelligence. Learners are trained to analyse large datasets, generate actionable insights, and present findings in visually compelling formats, preparing them for roles in data analysis, business reporting, and decision support systems.
The Creative Design course focuses on cultivating visual creativity and technical expertise, enabling students to design impactful digital content for various professional applications. It covers modern tools and design principles, empowering learners to combine aesthetics with functionality in both print and digital media.
Both courses are open to all girls, including those from outside KMV, and are offered at minimal fees. Students can pursue these alongside their degree programmes or independently, thereby adding significant value to their academic portfolio and enhancing their employability.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her pride in these initiatives, stating that such skill-oriented programmes will prepare students to meet global market demands, foster innovation, and secure better career opportunities. She further lauded the efforts of the PG Department of Computer Science & Applications for designing and delivering courses that not only meet industry requirements but also encourage creativity and analytical thinking among students.
