The P.G. Department of Physics at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, an Autonomous and Heritage Institution, celebrated National Science Day with an inspiring display of innovation, creativity, and intellectual fervor, in honor of the legendary C.V. Raman, whose groundbreaking work in Physics continues to inspire generations. The day was marked by a series of captivating events that paid homage to the immense contributions of science to society, with a special focus on the field of Physics.
The occasion was graced by an esteemed gathering of dignitaries including Dr. Neeraj Maini, Dean of Academics, Dr. Suman Khurana, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Madhumeet, Dean of Student Welfare, Dr. Gurjot, Dean of Social Sciences, and Dr. Hardeep, Controller of Examination. Their presence added a touch of grandeur and significance to the celebrations, as they extended their best wishes and appreciation to the department for its commitment to fostering scientific inquiry among students.
The National Science Day celebrations saw a vibrant showcase of student talent and scientific enthusiasm, with a range of exciting events designed to engage and inspire the next generation of physicists.
Among the most anticipated was the Photography Challenge, where 16 participants captured the marvels of the physical world through their lenses, blending art with science. Another highly engaging activity was the Physics Memes-based Reel Contest, which saw 9 participants bringing out their wit and humor through creative physics-themed reels, sparking both laughter and learning.
The cultural segment was equally enthralling, featuring three Skits that cleverly depicted the wonders of physics and its impact on daily life. The performances provided not just entertainment, but also deep insights into the applications of Physics in real-world scenarios. The Debate Competition, with 3 teams, provided a platform for students to discuss and deliberate on some of the most pressing issues in the realm of modern physics, showcasing their analytical thinking and eloquence.
A true highlight of the day was the Innovation Stall, which served as an open platform for showcasing some of the most fascinating experiments in the field of physics. Demonstrations of anti-gravity technology, mutual induction, conductivity experiments, Gaussian guns, and homopolar motors captivated students and guests alike, offering a hands-on experience with cutting-edge scientific concepts. The stall stood as a testament to the department’s commitment to blending theoretical learning with practical innovation.
Additionally, a special Fun with Physics counter was set up, where both students and faculty engaged in a series of entertaining and interactive activities that made learning physics an enjoyable experience. This creative mix of education and entertainment not only encouraged participants to explore scientific phenomena in a fun and approachable way but also helped demystify complex concepts in physics.
Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Director of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, applauded the exceptional efforts of the P.G. Department of Physics in organizing such a multifaceted celebration of science. Dr. Dwivedi expressed her pride in the department’s contributions to the academic and intellectual growth of the students, noting that the events of the day reflected the true spirit of scientific inquiry and curiosity.
