KMV Organises e-workshop on Lac Culture by Indian Institute of Natural Resin and Gums, Ranchi, Jharkhand

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment with Top National and State Rankings by India Today Survey of Best Colleges 2020 (various categories) & Outlook Magazine always keep on organising various student oriented activities in order to channelize the energy of the students. In an another initiative, Department of Zoology organised an invited talk and e-workshop on lac culture  by Dr A Mohanasundaram, Principal Scientist at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Natural Resin and Gums, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Dr Mohanasundaram commenced his lecture by discussing commercially important lac species with reference to lac culture. He also highlighted the various trophic levels of lac ecosystem, host plants and pest management.  During the workshop Dr Mohanasundaram very beautifully demonstrated the techniques and methodologies involved in lac culture. The e-workshop ended with a healthy discussion and the students also asked various queries from Dr Mohanasundaram to which the resource person replied eloquently. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that this kind of activities are very enlightening, informative and useful for all the participants as it motivates the students to develop scientific aptitude in their minds. Madam Principal lauded the the efforts of Mrs Sadhna Tandon, Head, Department of Zoology and the faculty of the department for organising the event successfully.
